StationPlaylist Streamer


Streamer is a stand-alone stream encoder application for Windows.  This is designed to take the audio from a line-in device on a soundcard, or an RTP stream on the local network, optionally pass the audio through a software compressor/limiter, and encode the audio to a stream in various/multiple formats for broadcasting on the internet.

This software does not produce or play any audio.  StationPlaylist Creator and StationPlaylist Studio is designed for that purpose.

StationPlaylist Studio contains a stream encoder module but this is not suitable when using a mixing console.  Streamer is required to record the audio output from the mixer and encode it to a stream.

Streamer encodes the audio and sends it to an Icecast/Shoutcast compatible stream server for distribution to your listeners.  It can also be used for sending low latency audio via RTP to a RTP receiver like StationPlaylist Studio for outside broadcasts, or an RSTP server.  We offer Icecast Sream Hosting, or you can use any other stream hosting company with Streamer.

Streamer Features

  • Stream on the Internet in multiple codecs simultaneously, including MP3, AAC+ (HE-AAC), Windows Media, and Ogg Vorbis.
  • Supports Icecast, Shoutcast v1, Shoutcast v2 & compatible servers (eg. Peercast), plus Streamer p2p, and Windows Media servers.
  • Send low latency audio over the internet via RTP (real-time protocol) for OB or studio to transmitter links.
  • Supports RTSP servers like Wowza, GStreamer, and MediaMTX which can accept RTP streams for distribution.
  • A 5-band compressor/limiter is provided to process and normalize the audio for the best broadcasting sound.
  • Supports 3rd party Winamp DSP plugins for processing the audio.
  • Reads metadata from a text file, TCP, UDP, or StationPlaylist Studio automation software, to send artist and title information to the listeners player, so the listener can see what is playing.
  • May be used as a software compressor/limiter for terrestrial radio stations with it's optional audio output feature.

  • Windows XP or later (Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP, Server 2025, 2022, 2019, 2016, 2012, 2008, or 2003).
    Also works on Linux or Mac OS with WINE but not officially supported.
  • Minimal RAM usage.
  • Minimal disk space requirements.
  • Soundcard with input/recording function.
